So many posts in one day! Haha. But I like to keep the different subjects as seperate entries.
RoyBoy told me last night that his parents were saving some money for us for a honeymoon. That is so generous of them. RoyBoy and I were basically planning on simply going to my grandparent’s cottage for a weekend, since we probably won’t have the money to go anywhere. Now, I don’t know how much they plan on giving us, and I don’t really care, but their gift means that we may be able to do something nicer for ourselves. Or maybe we could save it for a honeymoon in the future, depending on what our jobs/lives are looking like in June 2010. Either way, it is very kind of them.
one of my coworkers got married in july 2008 and he's currently on his honeymoon now - they went to the Galapagos Islands for 2 weeks.
ReplyDeletepoint is, i recommend doing something small this year and then saving and doing something really great when you have the time/funds :-)
Thanks! That's a great idea, and what we will probably do (depending on how much we can save).
ReplyDeleteAnd welcome! I hope you like the blog :) Feel free to offer any suggestions, or other tidbits like what you commented.

ReplyDeleteAnd comment away- not many people do!
Hey Stef, It's Holly (Flint) White, and I just discovered your cute little blog! Being a married for almost three years myself, I would actually reccoment against doing something small for your honeymoon - it's the only time until you're old and retired you'll have a chance, the time, and perhaps even the funds to do so. I know everyone is different, but the second you add expenses like car loans, mortgage, fixing things in your house/car, etc. etc. etc., it will be very hard to say "oh, we'll spend $2,500 on some vacation." when you know how many things in your daily and monthly budget that could pay for instead.
ReplyDeleteWhat we did is actually asked some friends of the family if we could use their time share. Half of America has time shares, and tehy don't use them most of the time, but they pay a yearly fee anyway. And a lot of time shares, well, share, in that if they have a timeshare in the bahamas, you can probably switch it to PEI or Charleston or Hawaii if you'd rather. Anyway. My advice: milk the relaxation and free time while you ahve it and before the responsibilities of life descend - go away together for at least a week!
