Ring Around the What?

As previously mentioned, my engagement ring is an heirloom from my maternal great-grandmother. It is quite beautiful, if I do say so myself, and has filigree around the setting. Because my fingers are not very big and therefore do not have a lot of room between my knuckles, the wedding band will be thin. It will also be simple, because I don't want both rings to be really elaborate; I'd feel like both rings being intricate would be overpowering. I also want the wedding band to be made to fit around the ring, because of the small amount of room on my finger.

The problem is that I want the band to be custom made, which will cost $400-500. RoyBoy (and I) can't afford that. So, in the interim, we are going to get me a thin silver band. This is fine for now, and I can be happy. For a while. :)

I also can't really afford a wedding band for RoyBoy! I'm not sure what to do about that.

  1. We got a 10K gold band at a local jewerly store for less than $200. 10K gold scratches the least since it's not soft like 18K gold. I'm sure if you look around you can find something decent for not too expensive! There are even some places that let you do 1 year no interest... so if you think of a $150 ring with no interest for a year, you can do $15 payments for 10 months!!! Sounds easy then :-)

  2. Jane- check out the Ring Around the What? Part 2 post! I just don't want to pay $150 for a straight band, because I don't want a straight band. I want one that curves around my ring, and I'd rather have it custom made. But we have a solution, which is in the Part 2 post! :)
